About RSVP
RSVP connects people to purpose!
The purpose of RSVP is to create meaningful opportunites for persons fifty-five years of age and older to participate in the life of the community through volunteer service.
Why volunteer?
Feel the power of helping! Volunteering can open up new potentials and interests for you. You may receive a modest amount of transportation and expense reimbursement. You will receive a free monthly newsletter. You will be part of our yearly recognition celebration. You will have a reason to stay active - someone is counting on you!
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers over 55 years of age can participate in RSVP. Volunteers under 55 years of age are needed for our Illinois Reads program. Fill out our online application or call (217) 357-2804 to discuss your interests and service opportunities.
What if I already volunteer elsewhere?
Active retirees and seniors may already be volunteering elsewhere. Great! RSVP does not need to be an extra commitment. Your existing volunteer hours can count as RSVP hours. Our volunteer grant allocations are based on the number of hours you serve as a volunteer. Our services can not continue without YOU!
How does RSVP benefit local communities?
A wide range of community organizations may apply to be RSVP volunteer stations. Organizations interested in RSVP assistance should contact their area RSVP office.
How does RSVP operate locally?
Local, public, and private non-profit agencies receive grants to sponsor and operate RSVP projects in their community.
RSVP in Brown, Calhoun, Hancock, Pike, and Schuyler counties is sponsored by Carl Sandburg College.
