Library Adopt-A-Section Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to help maintain the order of a specific section of library materials. Volunteers can choose the section they wish to adopt. Work can be done any time during regular library hours. After the initial straightening, the volunteer can check on their section periodically to make sure it's back in order. Requirements include being able to see the spine labels of the books and knowing how to put them in alphabetical order or, for the non-fiction section, in decimal order. If physically unable to use a step stool to check the top shelves or bend to check the lower shelves, the volunteer can be do only the middle shelves.

Grant Writing
They are looking for a volunteer or volunteers to help research and write grants, to fund a low-cost spaying/neutering program. Work can be done on the computer at My Mathew's House, or at home on the volunteer's computer.

Sewing Bibs
Volunteers who sew are needed. Bibs are already cut out and ready to be sewn. This is an on-going project.

Clinic and Drill Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist at flu clinics and with emergency drills.

Misc. Volunteer Needs
They are in need of volunteers to deliver mail to patients, sit at the information desk, gift shop, surgery waiting area. Volunteers are also needed as courtesy court drivers and for special projects.

Misc. activities at Hancock County Sheriff's Office
Need a volunteer to do an emergency diagram and map for location of fire extinguishers, tornado safe areas, etc. Assist Jail Cook. Time/days vary.

Activity Assistant
Help with various activities throughout the building, including the Alzheimer's unit. Would be helpful if volunteer could push wheelchairs. Times and days vary…they will work around your schedule.

Ice Cream Shoppe
Volunteers needed 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. seven days a week. Most people volunteer one day a month – the schedule is done one month in advance. Training is provided. Volunteer will dip ice cream, make change and use the popcorn machine.

Craft Assistant
Volunteer would help residents with craft activities.Location: Hancock, Brown & Schuyler counties - North Adams Home, MendonHours: Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Bus Trip Assistant
Volunteers needed for one-to-one assistance with resident while shopping or for dining out trips. Usually once per month.

Daytime Dining Room Assistance
Volunteers needed to assist with pouring drinks, scraping plates, cleaning tables. Some training needed.

Meal Site AssistanceVolunteer help is needed weekdays, to clean and set tables, set up and tear down salad and dessert bar.

HELP Center
Volunteers are needed as front desk greeters. This is a sit down job that requires working with the public. Volunteers are also needed to hang clothing. This job includes pushing a loaded cart of clothing between various departments. Must be familiar with department locations. Also volunteers are needed to help unload deliveries and stack boxes. Male volunteer preferred. Must be able to lift.

Information Desk and Coffee shop help
Illini Community Hospital is expanding their information desk due to renovation of the ER. They will be needing volunteers to assist people to the appropriate area. The information desk is currently manned from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. except on clinic days. Volunteers can choose the number of hours and day they want to be at the information desk. Volunteers will also be needed to run cash register for the Coffee Shop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.L

American Legion Help - Mt. Sterling
Volunteers are needed to help during Poppy Days. Also needed are volunteers to pick up trash at the monument. They are also in need of volunteers for a call list for any surprise activities that may come up.

Library Aide
Volunteers are needed the first Wednesday of every month for 2 or 3 hours to sit and help clean, repair and cover books, videos, etc. Training will be provided.

Teachers Aide
Volunteers are needed at the primary level to read to students, listen to the students read, or work with them on any number of projects.Location: Brown County - North Grade School, Mt. SterlingHours: varies

SHARE
Volunteers are needed to help unload boxes and cases of food—fresh vegetables and fruit and frozen food. Volunteers must be able to stand at a table for about 2 hours and hand out, sort, and carry the boxes of food.

VFW Help with Boyscouts and Fundraising
Volunteers are needed to help the Boy Scouts. The VFW take in American flags that are worn out and have a ceremony when they burn them. The Boy Scouts then sprinkle the ashes of the flags over Moss Ridge Cemetary on Veterans Day when they also put up all the flags. Volunteers are also needed to assist with a fund that helps veterans in need.

Misc. Activities - Hancock County Nursing Home
Volunteers are needed to help residents eat meals. (30 minutes to an hour) Assistance is also needed to help Activities Department in decorating facility at the Holidays. Volunteers are needed to care for house plants and garden. (Approx. 1 hour) Volunteers are needed to wheel residents outside in good weather. (Approx. 1 hour) Assistance at family meals, special meals, and events is also needed. (2 hours)

Resident Visitor/Party Planner
Volunteers are needed to play games and visit with the residents. Also volunteers are needed to help organize special parties for the residents.

Game/Card Players
Volunteers are needed to instruct and play table or card games with residents anytime day or evening.

Manicurist
Volunteers are also need to give manicures to residents. This includes trimming, filing, and polishing. This can be done anytime day or evening.

Volunteers are needed to lead a craft session on Saturday mornings or early evening around 6 p.m.

Nauvoo Historical Society
Volunteers are needed to welcome visitors to the Museum. This would be a three hour shift, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. 7 days a week from May 15th to Oct. 15th at either of the museums uptown or in the State Park.

Kibbe Museum
Volunteers are needed to greet visitors at the Museum. This would be a three hour shift, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday during March, April, and May. The Museum needs volunteers every day but Saturday during June, July, and August…shifts are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Activity Leader
Volunteers are needed to work with the mentally ill population reading, singing, teaching them to quilt, or anything that you may be good at.

Hancock County Historical Society Museum
Volunteers are needed to help out at the Historical Society's Museum.

Bingo helpers are needed.

Craft Leader
Volunteers with craft ideas are needed to lead group activities.

Resident Visitor
Volunteers are needed for one-on-one room visits with 1 or 2 residents . Activities could include visiting, reading to them, or playing games. Volunteers with pets are also needed once a month to interact with the residents.

Small Group Activity Leader
Volunteers are needed to do a small group activity with 2 very low functioning residents. Sit down activities could include nail painting, picture showing, rubbing lotions on hands, playing music, etc.

Reading and Math Tutors
Tutors are needed on Mondays and Wednesdays anytime between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays anytime between 9 a.m. and noon. Volunteers can work one-on-one, in a small group, or assist in the adult education classroom. Sixteen hours of training is required.
