Sandburg Women’s Golf Tees Off Fall Season This Weekend

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team begins its fall season by hosting the Charger Invite on Saturday and Sunday. The first round will be played at Lake Bracken Country Club, while Sunday’s final round of the 36-hole event will take place at Bunker Links in Galesburg.

The Chargers’ fall schedule includes six events, largely against teams competing in NCAA Division III and the NAIA.

NOTABLE RETURNER
Averi Heintzelman (Sterling, Ill./Sterling), sophomore
Posted low score for Chargers in two events as a freshman last season
Chargers coach Gail Hannam: “Averi showed great improvement in the spring, and I’m looking for her to really do good things this fall.”

NEWCOMERS TO WATCH
• Olivia Schwingle (Sterling, Ill./Sterling), freshman
Hannam: “Olivia is a strong player with lots of potential.”
Anna Duden (Gifford, Ill./Armstrong), freshman
Hannam: “I expect Anna to be a consistent and steady player for us this season.”

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR YOUR TEAM THIS SEASON?
Hannam: “Since we only have three players, we will be competing as individuals. Hopefully, this will lead to individual improvements.”

THIS WILL BE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON IF ...
Hannam: “If each player can show consistent play and improvement in their scores weekly.”
