GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team moved up two spots into a tie for No. 18 in the first NJCAA Division II rankings of the regular season, released Monday.
Sandburg had 12 points in this week's rankings, tied for 18th with Ancilla and Allen County. It's the highest ranking in program history. The Chargers' previous best in the national rankings was No. 19 last May.
The Chargers (2-0), who were 20th in the preseason rankings two weeks ago, won their opening two contests in decisive fashion. Sandburg won 8-0 on Tuesday at Scott and opened its Region IV schedule with a 5-1 victory Saturday at Oakton.
Sandburg’s next contest is its home opener at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Field against John Wood.
