GALESBURG — Sophomore Guylberson Camille (Key West, Fla./Key West) scored the game-winning goal on a free kick in the 72nd minute to lift the 18th-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over John Wood on Thursday in the Chargers’ home opener.

Guylberson’s goal came following a foul just outside the box. His shot from about 20 yards out hit the crossbar, bounced down and went in for his fifth goal of the season, tied for most in the country.

After a scoreless first half, Jean Forestal (Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee) got the Chargers (3-0) on the board with a goal in the 52nd minute. He took a pass from Pedronel Herrera (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Claret) and blasted a shot up high for a 1-0 lead.

John Wood answered in the 60th minute on an unassisted goal by Samy Aouati prior to Camille’s game-winner.

Keeper Benjamin Hilton (West Sussex, England/Crawley Town Academy) earned the victory in goal by stopping four of five John Wood (1-1-1) shots.
