GRAYSLAKE — Jean Forestal (Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee) had a hat trick and the 10th-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team erupted for five second-half goals as the Chargers earned a 6-0 Region IV victory at Lake County on Saturday.
Forestal scored the first goal of the match for the Chargers (9-1 overall, 6-1 Region IV) in the 28th minute off an assist by Oliver Hawkins (Paddock Wood, England/Mascalls Academy). He added the final two tallies of the game for Sandburg in the 69th and 71st minutes with assists from Israel Guardado (North Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) and Roldy Geneus (Orlando, Fla./Evans), respectively.
It was the second hat trick and fifth multi-goal game this season for Forestal, who ranks second in the nation in goals (16) and third in points (33).
Jordan Delgado Ramos (Orlando, Fla./Evans) scored in the 46th minute on a pass from Guylberson Camille (Key West, Fla./Key West) to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead. Sandburg added unassisted goals from Hawkins (60th minute) and Camille (66th minute) to pad its lead to 4-0.
The game was called in the 83rd minute due to lightning in the area.
TRITON CONTEST POSTPONED
Sandburg’s match scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at home against Triton has been postponed to 4 p.m. Oct. 18.
