GALESBURG — The seventh-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team blanked Black Hawk 3-0 on Tuesday at Van Dyke Field in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

The Chargers (14-2 overall, 11-2 Region IV) won their fifth in a row and for the eighth time in nine contests. Sandburg has held its opponents off the scoreboard in six games during that stretch.

Jean Forestal (Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee) opened the scoring in the 17th minute as Lucas Mithiro Sueyoshi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Sao Jose, Santa Andre) sent a pass from near the midfield line to a streaking Forestal, who easily went around the Braves keeper and put it into the empty net. The goal was the 23rd of the season for Forestal, tying him for second in NJCAA Division II.

Guylberson Camille (Key West, Fla./Key West) then scored a pair of goals less than a minute apart to give Sandburg a 3-0 halftime lead. From the other side of midfield in the 35th minute, Roldy Geneus (Orlando, Fla./Evans) sent a long ball to Camille down the left side. Camille fought off one Black Hawk defender and beat the keeper to the left for a 2-0 advantage.

Camille scored on a similar play in the 36th minute, this time with an assist from Pedronel Hererra (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Claret). Camille’s 18 goals on the season are tied for seventh nationally. He’s fourth in the country with 47 points, just one behind his teammate Forestal for third.

Keeper Ben Hilton made four routine saves in keeping a clean sheet for the Chargers, who put 11 of their 22 shots on goal.
