GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team remained at No. 7 in this week’s NJCAA Division II rankings, released Monday afternoon.
The Chargers first reached No. 7 in last week’s poll, giving them their highest ranking in program history. Sandburg (13-2 overall, 10-2 Region IV) won a pair of road contests last week, earning a 3-0 victory at McHenry County on Wednesday and holding on for a 3-2 win at DuPage on Saturday.
The Chargers close out the regular season with a pair of home games this week. Sandburg hosts Black Hawk at 5 p.m. tonight at Galesburg High School and takes on Triton at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Field. The Chargers begin the Region IV Division II tournament Saturday, with their quarterfinal opponent to be announced later this week.
Sandburg has won four in a row and seven of its last eight contests, with its only loss in that stretch a 3-2 overtime defeat at current No. 4 Prairie State.
The Chargers have been ranked in all 10 polls this season and in 12 in a row dating back to last spring.
