GALESBURG — Atem Agot (East Moline, Ill./United Township) recorded a double-double in his Chargers debut as the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team opened the season with an 85-56 victory over St. Ambrose JV on Monday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers (1-0) opened up a 10-point lead in the first 5 minutes of the game and led by double figures the rest of the way. Connor Barnett (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) opened the contest with a 3-pointer, and Sandburg also got buckets from Hunter Caves (Alburnett, Iowa/Alburnett), Myles Estrada (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central), Matt Williams (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) and TJ Price (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) early on to lead 12-2 with 15:33 left in the first half.
• Sandburg used an 11-0 run, capped by a Price layup, to stretch its lead to 37-26 with 5:00 before halftime, and a 10-point burst heading into the break gave the Chargers a 47-21 advantage.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Agot tied for game-high honors with 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting, and he grabbed 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
