ROCKFORD — The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team saw its four-game win streak snapped with an 84-81 loss at Rock Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chargers (7-3) rallied back from an 11-point deficit with 7:13 left to tie the game at 81, but the Golden Eagles, ranked No. 15 in NJCAA Division III, scored the final three points on a field goal and a free throw. Sandburg had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but a 3-point try by Hunter Caves (Alburnett, Iowa/Alburnett) was off the mark.

Myles Estrada (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) scored a team- and season-high 22 for the Chargers while hitting 8 of 12 shots from the floor, including 6 of 8 from beyond the arc. It was Estrada’s third double-digit effort in the last four games.

Freshman Eric Price (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) came off the bench to score a season-high 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting in 19 minutes of action. Price went 2 of 3 from 3-point range and had four rebounds. Atem Agot (East Moline, Ill./United Township) added 12 points and eight rebounds for Sandburg.

The Chargers came up short despite shooting 51 percent (28 of 55) from the floor and 48 percent (12 of 25) from long range.

Malik Marshall led Rock Valley with a game-high 24 points.
