GALESBURG — Mattie Lower (Aledo, Ill./Rockridge) had a season-high in scoring for the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team in the Chargers’ 76-49 Arrowhead Conference loss Tuesday night at home to Highland.
KEY MOMENTS
• Lower drained a pair of free throws to close out the first quarter as the Chargers (2-16, 0-5) trailed just 21-18 after the opening period, but the Cougars opened the second with an 8-0 run and 13 of the first 15 points.
• Highland added a 9-0 run early in the third quarter to extend its lead to 48-27.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Lower scored a personal-best 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting. The freshman forward also had four rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. Lower’s previous high in scoring was five points on two occasions, most recently Jan. 18 against Black Hawk.
