Righi Turns in 1st Double-Double in Chargers’ Loss to Kougars

GALESBURG — Despite a career-best night from Natalie Righi (Pekin, Ill./Pekin), the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team dropped a 77-57 Arrowhead Conference decision to Kishwaukee on Thursday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers (2-15-0-4) trailed 14-10 in the first quarter after a Righi layup, but Kishwaukee ran off 12 straight points to end the period and open the second.
• A 14-0 run in the third that was kickstarted by four straight 3-pointers helped the Kougars extend their lead to 57-29.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Righi was a force for the Chargers all night, leading Sandburg in scoring and rebounding with career-highs of 22 points and 13 boards for her first career double-double. Seven of Righi’s rebounds came on the offensive glass. She finished 6 of 14 from the field and knocked down 10 of her 12 free-throw attempts. Righi blew past her previous high in scoring (12 on Dec. 18 against Prairie State), and she surpassed her season-best 12 rebounds from Nov. 20 at Madison.
