GALESBURG — The first art show of 2025 at Sandburg highlights local artists and writers in the art gallery located in building D on the Galesburg campus.
“Authors & Illustrators” is up through March 14, and an opening reception will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 24. The show and reception are free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are weekdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
In addition to featuring pieces by local artists Larry Jon Davis, Nikki Ponce, Dusty Scott and Jennie Taylor, the opening will include book signings for children and young adults by authors whose creations were illustrated by the artists.
Area authors slated to participate in the opening reception include Naomi Law (“The Adventures of Orie the Orpheum Mouse” and “Jump, Drew, Jump!”), Janet Pogue Tolle (“Silas the Great House Cat” and “Nellie and the Runaway Drone”) and Marie Smysor Watson (“The Things I Used to Do,” “Our Own Precious Places” and “Everything Anything Something Nothing”).
