Approximately 70 high school seniors in the Knox-Warren Special Education District will take part in Carl Sandburg College’s inaugural Day of Transition Conference from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 31 in the Crist Student Center on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.
This one-day conference is designed to give seniors in the Knox-Warren Special Education District a look at opportunities available to them and keys to success once they graduate high school.
Students will take part in mini-sessions focusing on the essentials and importance of job resumes, applications and interviews. They’ll then have their choice of sessions discussing the pathway to attend college or the pathway to joining the workforce.
Students also will be given guided tours of Sandburg and will have the chance to network with area employers such as Big E’s Auto, Smithfield Foods, Operation Engineers Local Union No. 649, OSF Healthcare and DD Homes as well as representatives from area colleges such as Sandburg, Black Hawk College, Spoon River College and Knox College.
