Hansen Leads Balanced Round for Sandburg Men’s Golf at Monmouth

Ryan Hansen (Neponset, Ill./Kewanee) led a balanced day for the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team in the Fighting Scot Invitational on Friday at Gibson Woods.
Hansen shot an 8-over-par 79 for the Chargers, whose four scorers finished within two shots of each other while finishing at 320 for the round. The second round scheduled for Saturday was canceled because of unplayable conditions.
Nate Bizarri (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) shot an 80 on his home course, and Michael Curry (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) also came in at 9 over. Anthony Neve (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) shot an 81, and Braxton Prather (Rushville, Ill./Rushville-Industry) shot an 85.
The Chargers finished sixth in the 11-team field, beating four teams from four-year schools. Kirkwood shot a 4-under 280 as a team to win by 13 strokes over Black Hawk.
Sandburg will return to its Arrowhead Conference season schedule with a meet hosted by Black Hawk at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Byron Hills.
