Carl Sandburg College men’s golfer Ryan Hansen (Neponset, Ill./Kewanee) was unable to rebound from a tough sixth hole Thursday in the third round of the NJCAA Division II national championship at Longbow Golf Club.
A day after jumping up 29 spots into a tie for 43rd, Hansen finished Thursday with a 13-over-par 84 to fall back into a tie for 76th in the 137-player field. The Chargers freshman has 54-hole total of 236 (23 over) entering Friday’s final round. Hansen is tied for 13th among the 33 players who qualified for the tournament as individuals.
Hansen recorded 10 pars in the third round and has 34 for the tournament — tied for 15th most among all golfers — but went without a birdie on the day. He was 2 over through five holes Thursday before being upended by a quintuple-bogey on the par-4 sixth.
Hansen will tee off in Friday’s final round at 10:50 a.m. Central.
