More than 300 K-12 teachers and administrators from throughout Illinois are at Carl Sandburg College and Lombard Middle School this week for the second annual Whatever It Takes Conference (WITcon).

During the conference, which began Wednesday and continues through Friday, education leaders will share strategies to engage students, learn new ways to use technology tools and discover ways to shift school/classroom culture. Enrollment for this year’s conference is up significantly from the approximately 200 who attended last year’s inaugural event.

Featured speakers for WITcon include 2017 Illinois Teacher of the Year Ricardo Castro and Indiana teacher, blogger and author Matt Miller.

Sandburg is hosting the first and final days of the symposium, with Thursday’s events taking place at Lombard. The College has partnered with Galesburg District 205, Regional Office of Education 33 and Regional Office of Education 26 to put on this event, an expanded version of what was previously Sandburg’s Cyber Camp.

More information on WITcon, including a complete schedule, can be found at www.witconf.org. You can also follow the conference on Twitter at @WITcon2016 and join social media conversation about the conference with #WITcon17.
