Chargers Men’s XC Sweeps Top 3 Spots in Dual at Sauk Valley

The Carl Sandburg College cross country teams opened their season with a dual meet at Sauk Valley on Saturday.
The Chargers’ men’s team swept the top three spots, with Brennan Foley (Galva, Ill./Galva) winning the 4-mile race in 22 minutes, 32 seconds. He was followed by Sebastian Arteaga (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) in second at 23:19 and Rian Epperson (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) in third at 30:09.
In the women’s race, Ashlyn Boyer (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln) and Samantha Davidson (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) finished third and fifth, respectively, with times of 12:30 and 15:48 on the 2-mile course.
The Chargers’ first major event of the season is Friday’s WIU Early Bird at Spring Lake Park in Macomb. The women’s race will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s race at 5:45 p.m.
