No. 6 Indian Hills Stops Chargers in 4 Sets

The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team put up a strong fight against Division I No. 6 Indian Hills (Iowa) on Wednesday but fell to the Warriors 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16.
The Chargers (11-7) took the last three points of the second set to even the match 1-1. The Warriors (14-3), though, took control of the third with an 8-0 run to go up 23-14 and jumped to an 11-4 lead in the fourth.
Hannah Thompson (Blandinsville, Ill./West Prairie) had 12 kills and three aces to lead Sandburg in both categories. The Chargers also got 10 kills from Lexi Strange (Emden, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden), her first double-digit kill total of the season.
Libero Adre Vetter (Emden, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) picked up 28 digs, while Emma Derry (Augusta, Ill./Southeastern) had 20 assists and Camerin Huizenga (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) added 11. Huizenga also served a pair of aces for Sandburg.
The Chargers will host Lincoln at 6 p.m. Monday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in another match outside of Region IV.
