The Carl Sandburg College Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Sandburg Education Association (SEA) are pleased to announce an extension of their labor agreement through fiscal year 2022. The Trustees formally approved the agreement at their regular meeting Thursday evening on the College’s Main Campus in Galesburg.

This agreement allows Sandburg to continue to focus its attention on its students and their success. Sandburg utilizes interest-based bargaining, which is a process that allows for thoughtful and quality discussions to take place between both sides to achieve common goals. Once again, the SEA and the BOT are proud of the process and of the results.

The College’s original three-year rolling collective bargaining agreement with the SEA was approved by the BOT on July 25, 1996, and expired June 30, 1999. The agreement has continued over the last 21 years, by the Board’s approval of the recommendations of the administration, through fiscal year 2019. The negotiation meetings this fall maintain the rolling contract through fiscal year 2022.

Included in the agreement are salary and wage increases of 2.75 percent for fiscal year 2020, 2021 and 2022. The College’s fiscal year begins July 1.
