Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country freshman Ashlynn Boyer (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln) just missed earning all-region honors but will still head to the NJCAA Division I national championship after finishing 16th in the Region IV meet Saturday at Sauk Valley Community College.
Boyer placed 16th, missing the All-Region IV team by one spot, but her time of 22 minutes, 54 seconds on the 5-kilometer course was good enough to move on to nationals. She’ll race Nov. 11 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Fellow Chargers freshman Samantha Davidson placed 26th, in 25:15. DuPage’s Amanda Jones won the women’s race with a time of 19:30.
