Carl Sandburg College student Angel Rohrig of Altona has been named a Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar for her scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential.
Rohrig was among the 200 members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society who were selected to receive the $1,000 scholarship out of nearly 1,000 applicants worldwide. The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, provides new PTK members with financial resources to help with educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs.
Scholarship recipients are also encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in PTK programs and are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential. The funds provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation also give students the opportunity to engage in PTK programs and develop leadership skills to become future leaders in their communities.
Headquartered in Jackson, Miss., Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of community college students and helping them grow as scholars and leaders. PTK includes more than 3 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters at two-year colleges in nine nations.
