Chargers Pull Away from Bryant & Stratton in Final Minutes

MILWAUKEE

The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team pulled away down the stretch to defeat Bryant & Stratton 66-59 on Saturday in a Region IV road contest.

The Chargers (8-2) outscored the Bobcats 14-7 after the teams went into the final 5 minutes tied at 52.

Kourtlandt Martin (Evansville, Ind./Central) scored 16 points to lead four Chargers in double figures. The sophomore point guard also had four rebounds and four assists.

Deandrey Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) had a strong outing off the bench for the second straight game, finishing with 14 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Matt Wendling (Athens, Ill./Athens) had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Chargers.

Tyler Houston (Knoxville, Ill./Knoxville) handed out a team-high five assists for Sandburg.

Sandburg held the Bobcats to just 14 percent (3 of 22) from beyond the 3-point line, while the Chargers hit 8 of 20 from distance.

Bryant & Stratton was led by Lincoln Wieseman’s game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Sandburg will host Culver-Stockton JV at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to kick off a stretch of four straight home games.
