Chargers Stopped by 18th-Ranked Cougars in Home Opener

Nationally ranked Illinois Central overpowered the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team 86-44 on Tuesday night in the Chargers’ home opener at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
The Chargers (1-2) were led by freshman Danayzia Stuckey (Peoria, Ill./Limestone), who scored nine of her team-best 12 points in the fourth quarter. Freshman forward Whitney Wynkoop (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) added 10 points for Sandburg. Sophomore Abby Masterson (Bradford, Ill./Stark County) hit three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.
The Cougars (4-1), ranked 18th in the country, got a game-high 18 points from Krystal Walker and 14 from Bailey Larson.
The Chargers’ next contest is 5 p.m. Friday at Waubonsee.
