Beetler, Kiptoo Lead Chargers at Bradley Intercollegiate

Anastasia Beetler (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) and Dixon Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya/Kipsangui) paced the Carl Sandburg College cross country teams at the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday evening at Detweiller Park.
Beetler placed 30th overall in the 5-kilometer women’s Class B race with a time of 20 minutes, 7.2 seconds. Kiptoo was 55th in the 8K men’s race, crossing the line in 29:50.1 to lead the Chargers.
Sandburg’s women’s team placed sixth with 179 points, which was the best showing among two-year schools. Carlie Barman (Woodhull, Ill./AlWood) was 62nd in 23:12.6, and Karen Tanui (Kenya) was closed behind in 65th at 23:32.5. Also running for Sandburg were Annadoria Ledbetter (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) in 71st place at 24:20.2 and Annie Sholl (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) in 83rd at 29:08.3.
Freeman Shoemaker (Oquawka, Ill./West Central) was just behind Kiptoo on the men’s side, placing 59th in 30:11.9. Freshman Kevin White (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) was 75th (32:34.6), freshman Nathan Cutts (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) was 84th (33:56.7) and freshman Preston Hook (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) was 92nd (42:43.5). The Chargers finished eighth in the Class B men’s standings.
Sandburg continues its fall schedule with the Augustana Brissman-Lundeen Invite at 3 p.m. Friday at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island.
