Sandburg Women’s XC Takes 30th at NJCAA DI Championship

The Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country team finished 30th in the NJCAA Division I Championship on Saturday at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.
Freshman Nancy Jebet (Eldoret, Kenya/Tulwo), the first Sandburg woman to win the Region IV championship, paced the Chargers with a 56th-place finish out of 294 runners in the 5-kilometer race with a time of 21 minutes, 7.8 seconds. Sophomore Anastasia Beetler (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg), making her second appearance at nationals, was 105th in 21:55.0.
Also crossing the line for Sandburg was Carlie Barman (Woodhull, Ill./AlWood) in 23:53.2 (223rd), Karen Tanui (Kenya) in 24:49.2 (253rd), Annadoria Ledbetter (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) in 25:28.2 (264th), Jade Mathis (New Windsor, Ill./Sherrard) in 29:20.7 (287th) and Annie Sholl (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) in 31:10.6 (292nd).
Iowa Central had three runners in the top six and finished with 45 points to win the national championship. El Paso (Texas) was second with 70 points. El Paso’s Everlyn Kemboi was the individual national champ with a time of 18:17.1, more than :26 faster than the runner-up.
