Chargers Drop 2 to Coastal Ala.-North on Spring Break Trip

The Carl Sandburg College softball team continued its season-opening trip to the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, dropping a pair of contests at Coastal Alabama-North.
The Eagles, who entered the day already having played 23 games, rallied to beat the Chargers (1-6) 9-4 in the opener and shut out Sandburg 11-0 in Game 2.

Key Moments
- The Chargers (1-6) scored three two-out runs in the third inning to grab a 3-2 advantage. Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) singled to center to drive in Haley Stevenson (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) and Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central). Bloomer moved into scoring position on the throw home and came around when the Eagles’ shortstop couldn’t handle a liner off the bat of Madison Benge (Stronghurst, Ill./West Central).
- Coastal Alabama-North regained the lead in the fourth as it sent 10 batters to the plate in a six-run frame. Seven straight batters reached for the Eagles, who collected four singles and doubles and took advantage of a Chargers error.
Sandburg Standout
Bloomer was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
