The Carl Sandburg College softball team erupted for 33 runs and held Lake County to just six hits on the day as it swept the Lancers 15-2 and 18-0 on Sunday in the Chargers’ home opener at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
A two-run triple to center off the bat of Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central) started the scoring in a six-run second inning for the Chargers as they pushed their lead to 8-1.

Emily Bloomer (Burlington, Iowa/Burlington) was a perfect 4 for 4 at the dish to lead a 14-hit attack for Sandburg. She collected a double, three singles, scored three times and drove in three runs.
