Chargers’ Historic Season Ends in Region IV Final 4

A historic season for the Carl Sandburg College softball team ended Saturday with a pair of losses in the finals of the Region IV District B tournament.
Third-seeded Sandburg (32-26), which won its first-ever Arrowhead Conference championship during the regular season, lost a semifinal with No. 2 seed Prairie State 12-2, then dropped an elimination game to No. 4 Triton 10-1.

Key Moment

The Chargers retired the first two batters in the first, but a single, a walk and another single got the Trojans on the board. A three-run homer in the next at-bat gave Triton a 4-0 first-inning lead.
