Bryce Grafton (Orion, Ill./Orion) tied for sixth with a 7-over-par 78 and the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team tied for fifth as a team in the Timber Creek Classic on Thursday afternoon.

Grafton shot 39 on each side and finished three shots behind medalist Chris Blaha of Oakton. It’s the third time in the last four rounds Grafton has shot in the 70s, and he remains the only Charger to have had his score count toward Sandburg’s total in all six rounds this season.

Sandburg finished at 335 as a team, tied with Highland in the 11-team event. Black Hawk “Gold” took first with a 317, followed by Black Hawk “Black” (322), Illinois Central (326) and Oakton (328). The Chargers and Cougars finished 11 shots ahead of seventh-place Moraine Valley.

Brady Grafton (Orion, Ill./Orion) saw his run of rounds in the 70s snapped at five with an 87 on Thursday. Also scoring for Sandburg were Anthony Neve (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) with an 82 and Ryan Hansen (Neponset, Ill./Kewanee) with an 88).
