Chargers Drop Season Opener at Southeastern

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team opened its season with an 84-53 loss at Southeastern (Iowa) on Wednesday night.
The Chargers (0-1) had three players score in double figures, with sophomores Alivia Cummings (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) and Madison Lowe (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) each scoring 16. Freshman Jordan Price (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) came off the bench to score 10 for Sandburg.
The Blackhawks (1-2) had a game-high 19 points from Ciera Walker, and Mackenzie Pezley added 18.
The Chargers’ next contest is 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake County before their home opener at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Illinois Central at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
