Study abroad requirements

  • 2.75 or higher GPA
  • B or better in English 101
  • 12 hours of earned college credit

Typically, two courses are offered for summer programs and four to five courses are offered for semester programs. Most programs include a culture course and/or a language course in addition to elective courses. For all programs requiring language study, no prior experience is required. If you have previous language experience, however, you'll be tested and placed in the appropriate courses. During your study abroad, you're registered as Carl Sandburg College students and receive course credit directly through the college.

Program costs vary by country. Most program costs include tuition abroad, housing (with host families when available), some meals, field trips and health insurance. Typically, you're required to pay for your airfare, passport and/or visa, some meals and personal expenses. For information on current program costs, visit ICISP or contact James Hutchings.
