What is the Student Ambassador Program?

The Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity for an honorary group of students who are dedicated to serving and representing Carl Sandburg College. Student Ambassadors provide campus tours, seek to enhance prospective students' knowledge about the various student support services and programs offered at Sandburg, serve as a Sandburg representative within the campus community, and perform duties at various Sandburg campus and community events.

 

What does a Student Ambassador do?

  • Develops an expanded knowledge of Carl Sandburg College.
  • Conducts campus tours for new students, schools, classes and guests.
  • Assists with the preparation and implementation of Charge Up! New Student Orientation.
  • Represents Carl Sandburg College during college events.
  • Assists with duties and tasks related to events put on by various Carl Sandburg College departments.
  • Works with diverse populations, and provides tips on being a successful student.
  • Assists with a variety of office-related tasks.
  • Attends monthly meetings and required training.
  • All other duties as assigned.

How to Become a Student Ambassador

Qualifications to apply

  • Must be a currently enrolled Sandburg student for the application year.
  • Must have completed at least one semester or at least 6 credits at Sandburg before applying.
  • Must have a semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the college.
  • The position has a one-year commitment (July 1 - June 30).
  • Demonstrate strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline and enthusiasm.

Student Ambassadors...

  • Are positive.
  • Excel at communicating with others.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Have Charger pride.
  • Are open to learning new things.
  • Have a commitment to diversity and cultural pluralism.

 To apply:

  • Complete the Student Ambassador Application.
  • Submit the application by May 1 for the upcoming academic year
    (i.e., May 1, 2023, for the 2023-2024 academic year).
Please note: Applying to the Student Ambassador Program does not guarantee acceptance to the program.

 

Want to nominate a student to be a Student Ambassador?

Simply complete the Student Ambassador Nomination Form, and submit it by April 1. The nominated students will be reviewed and contacted to complete an application.
