Minimum Technology Recommendations for Students
To participate successfully in online, hybrid, and technology-supported courses at Sandburg, students should have access to a reliable computer, internet connection, and the software required for their courses.
Recommended Technology
Computer: A laptop or desktop computer running a currently supported version of Windows or macOS. We recommend at least 8 GB of RAM and a webcam and microphone for courses that require video participation.
Internet: A reliable broadband internet connection suitable for streaming instructional videos, attending virtual classes, uploading assignments, and completing assessments.
Web Browser: An up-to-date browser supported by Canvas, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
Software: Students may need Microsoft 365 applications, a PDF reader, and additional software identified by their instructors.
Mobile Devices and Chromebooks: Smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks may be useful for accessing course materials, but some assignments, testing applications, and specialized software may require a Windows or Mac computer.
Canvas and Online Learning
Students should regularly access Canvas to review course materials, submit assignments, participate in discussions, and communicate with instructors.
Some courses or academic programs may have additional technology requirements. Students should review their course syllabus before classes begin.
