Using financial aid to buy books

If financial aid (not including loans or MAP) exceeds the cost of tuition and fees, the excess will be available at the bookstore. Books may be charged to financial aid approximately three weeks before the start of the semester.

Students who would like to charge books to financial aid and have the books shipped to them should complete this Authorization for Charges form.

ISBN information

ISBN information is provided for all required books in the detail section of the class search and through the bookstore website.

Jump-start disbursement

Carl Sandburg College makes a portion of the student’s grant aid available prior to the semester to help with the purchase of books, transportation and other start-up costs. Requests for early disbursement can be made by completing the Jump-Start Disbursement Request.

Before completing the form, you may wish to sign up for direct deposit to have your financial aid funds deposited into your bank account. You can do this through your mySandburg account: Choose Self-Service Menu for Students > My Account > Sign up for Direct Deposit of my Refund.

The jump-start disbursement is limited to no less than $50 and no more than $400 or 50% of grant funds remaining after tuition and fees are paid. The funds will be deducted from your financial aid credit balance for the term. If your aid changes, you are responsible to repay the funds.
